A written technical assessment before you commit to anything

Not ready to start a project? Start with an opinion you can act on. We review your plan, system or codebase and tell you in writing what we would do — and what we would avoid.

Uses the same enquiry form; choose “Technical assessment” as the project type.

Two ways to get one

The free assessment answers “is this sensible, roughly what would it take, and is Monolith a fit?” The paid review goes inside your system and produces a report you can hand to any team.

Free written assessment

Free · 2 business days

Based on your written description (and anything you link to). No call needed; a call is optional afterwards.

  • Is the approach sound? Alternatives?
  • Main technical and delivery risks
  • Indicative cost and duration range
  • Honest fit statement — including “not us”

Technical review

CHF 4,000 – 12,000 · fixed fee · 1–3 weeks

Read access to code, architecture and documentation; interviews with the people who run the system; a written report and a walkthrough.

  • Architecture and code quality findings, prioritised by risk
  • Security and operational gaps (not a penetration test)
  • Integration and data-flow map as it really is
  • Options with cost ranges: stabilise, extend, modernise, replace
  • A report you own — usable for an RFP, a board or another vendor

Typical reasons people ask for one

  • An agency or freelancer left behind a system nobody fully understands.
  • You are about to sign a large build contract and want a second opinion on the architecture or the estimate.
  • A legacy application needs a roadmap before budget season.
  • An integration keeps failing and you need to know whether to fix or replace it.
  • You are deciding between a standard product and a custom build.

How it works

  1. Describe the situation in the enquiry form and choose “technical assessment”.

  2. Free assessment: you receive the written reply within two business days.

  3. Technical review: we confirm scope and a fixed fee in writing, you grant read access, we deliver the report and walk you through it.

  4. You decide what happens next — with us or anyone else.

FAQ

Common questions

Is the free assessment really free, or a sales call in disguise?

It is a written document, and you decide whether to talk to us afterwards. We do it because buyers who can evaluate our thinking first become better clients — and because some should not hire us, and we would rather say so early.

Will you need access to our systems for the free assessment?

No. It is based on what you write and link to. The paid review needs read access to code and documentation, under an NDA if you wish.

Is the report independent if you also build?

We state our interest openly: we would like to build what we recommend. The report is written so that another vendor can execute it, and we are happy for you to take it elsewhere. We also recommend against building when that is the honest answer.
